With years of experience in the industry, and an extensive background in manufacturing process, PHC offers a variety of clutch disc materials depending on the application and goals for the vehicle.  Each of the materials serve a direct purpose for driving style.  All are friendly on the street and allow a strong advantage over the stock OE style clutches. The features and benefits help to determine which is best for your application.

Changing the friction material on a clutch disc can increase the torque capacity and improve thermal properties. Common clutch disc materials are:

Organic
This material is most often used in OE applications and is excellent for drivability. PHC clutch kits use a high grade of organic material which provides constant co-efficient of friction while also having excellent drivability. Perfect for the everyday driver with more power than stock offering smooth engagement and release. An organic clutch will stand up to hard use, but it won’t be able to take repeated heavy abuse because it will overheat.
Aramid
Is generally a combination of organic and aramid material, it has the drivability of conventional organic material but significantly higher torque capacity and heat resistance. This material, which can be found in 4Terrian Ultimate, is ideal for 4WD applications that require more performance without sacrificing drivability.

Cerametallic/Ceramic
It is ideal for high-performance or race applications since it can withstand a high degree of heat while also significantly boosting torque capacity (66 percent increase over organic material). Unfortunately, the drivability is considerably reduced because the material engages more aggressively than organic material. Some of the Mantic performance range contains this material.
