The Swift was a massive step forwards for Suzuki, with its enhanced quality and enticing design. It’s a fascinating vehicle with lots of great detailing, including gunmetal front bumper inserts and a neat rear wing. The Swift delivers a pure economical hot hatch driving experience, with stiff suspension that feels direct and eager to turn in. The body roll is minimal, and the ample grip instills confidence. All of the controls are properly weighted. The Swift is also a lot of fun to drive, thanks to its strong brakes and eager nature. A firm ride means it’s not overly relaxing, and while it trails both rivals in terms of speed, it certainly feels quick on the road. The engine must be worked hard, but not too hard. When you consider the price and generous standard equipment, it remains a true performance bargain.
